Opemiposi Okunuga, A 21-year-old university student, stole his neighbor’s car and resold it at a giveaway price of N120, 000, has been summoned to Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. is currently facing a charge of stealing.
Mr. Imohimi Edgal,, the State Commissioner of Police, during his meeting at the Government House which was presided over by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the Lagos House, Ikeja, With him are Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello (right); Commander 551 Base Service Group, Air Commodore Musbau Olumide Olatunji; Commander, 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ikeja Cantonment, Brig. Gen. Elias Attu, and Commander, Nigeria Air Force Base, Ikeja, Air Commodore Musbau Olatunji. The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Awase, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 1 at his residence. He said the accused stole a car belonging to the complainant, Mr Ola Oladipupo, the value of which was yet to be ascertained.
The complainant parked his car in the compound and the accused towed it at night to an unknown location. Awase alleged. “The complainant found out that his car was missing in the morning. “He alerted his neighbors told them what happened to him .Awase said the complainant reported the case at the Police Station and the accused was arrested.
According to him, the accused had made a confessional statement to the police that he sold the car at Abule-Egba for N120, 000 and all efforts to trace the buyer were unsuccessful.
