Hantaviruses are categorized under class of viruses, that are mainly spread by rodents.
they also cause diverse disease syndromes in people after they’re being infected.
There are kinds of hantaviruses, with a different geographical distribution and causing diverse clinical diseases. Each hantavirus is specific to a particular rodent host.
Humans can be infected through the inhalation of infected rodent urine, droppings, or saliva.

People are panicking about the new potential pandemic overlapping the existing one and more people want to know about the new hantavirus , its transmission mode and treatment, and if there will be a new pandemic.
Specialists estimated that , it may take one to eight weeks for the very first symptoms to develop after the exposure to the pathogen.
The general hantavirus symptoms in humans include fever, muscle pains, and fatigue
It is well known that humans can only contract the virus from infected rodents, however it has been reported that there have been several cases of proven human-to-human hantavirus transmission in Chile and Argentina.


Transmission mode:

-When The rodents excrete hantaviruses in the urine, faeces and saliva; human infection takes place mostly when the person inhales the  virus-contaminated rodent excreta
-Touching of rodent droppings or nests and the the person touches their eyes, mouth or nose with unwashed hands.
Transmission can also be possible via minor skin injuries when the person comes into direct contact with infected materials
Through a bite from the infected rodent, it transmits the virus via its saliva, however this particular mode of transmission is said to be quite rare,


-Eliminate rodents in your homes, place of work and camp site
– close up holes and gaps in your home or garage. Mount traps in and around your home to reduce rodent infestation. Practice a good hygiene most especially your environment and where you store your food stuffs.

Early symptoms

there symptoms at the early stage as reported;
-fever and muscle aches,
The person may also experience headaches, dizziness, chills, and abdominal problems, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
According to report half of all hantalvirus pulmonary syndrome [HPS] patients experience these symptoms.

Late Symptoms

About 4 – 10 days after the initial stage of illness, the late symptoms of HPS appear. The symptoms include
Shortness of breath
Lungs filled with fluid
According to specialists, the HPS can be fatal. It has a mortality rate of 38%.
>The only drug used in severe Hantavirus infections in Europe is Ribavirin. Currently there’s no vaccine available in Europe
