Kano election tribunal: Gama ward results ‘disappeared’ at collation centre – Returning officer. INEC’s ad hoc staff, Joshua Kubai, who worked at Gama ward, Nasarawa LG in Kano state as returning officer during the 2019 governorship election testified at the tribunal.

Kubai made this allegation in his testimony at the hearing of the case filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Daily Trust reports.
Kubai who is a staff of Bayero University, Kano, served as the Returning Officer of Gama ward in Nasarawa local government area during the last governorship election.He was summoned by the tribunal on the request of the petitioners and testified on their behalf.

He was cross-examined by counsels to the respondents on the election results of the ward as well as his witness statement on oath, during which he mentioned that the Gama ward election results “disappeared” at the local government collation centre. During cross examination, INEC’s counsel, Adedayo Adedeji, asked the witness whether he was aware that when election result got lost, it must be “quarantined” when it was found, to which he said he was not aware.

Speaking to newsmen afterward, a counsel to the PDP, Kuliya Maliki, said the petitioners were happy to have a neutral person who worked for INEC to testify on their behalf.

Also reacting to the tribunal’s proceedings commenting, a counsel to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, M. A. Lawan, aforementioned the respondents were assured going by the approach things were flowering.

Enoidem stated this while testifying as the first witness of the first respondent, Governor Udom Emmanuel, as he opened his case at the governorship election tribunal in Uyo on Thursday, July 31.

Enoidem, who was PDP’s state collation agent for the presidential and National Assembly elections as well as the March governorship and state House of Assembly elections, said the thugs were brought from Edo state in fifty buses to rig the polls.

He said that they were, however, arrested by the police and they confessed to being paid by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Nsima Ekere to cause instability in PDP strongholds in the state.
