He said at the press conference;

“I said we’d appreciate you allowing our supply to return out, If he doesn’t allow it to return out. that might be okay but, of course, there could also be retaliation. Why wouldn’t that be?

“I don’t like that decision…I spoke to him [Mr Modi] yesterday. We had a really good talk, and we’ll see whether or not that’s his decision. i might be surprised if he would you recognize because India does alright with the US.”Srivastava also said on Tuesday April 7, that the drug would be kept during a “licensed” category, with the demand “continuously monitored”.

Few days after President Trump issued the threat, an Indian government spokesperson, Anurag Srivastava announced that they need lifted some restrictions on hydroxychloroquine after officials “confirmed the supply of medicines for all possible contingencies currently envisaged”.

In the previous couple of days, the US President has developed a public obsession with hydroxychloroquine as a miracle cure for Coronavirus. He had also boasted that the US had already stockpiled 29m doses of the drug.The US orders for hydroxychloroquine from India were placed in March.

The dimensions of the order couldn’t be ascertained and it had been also not clear if they were placed by the United States government through the agency spearheading the federal effort boost domestic availability of medical supplies and equipment needed to affect the outbreak, or private companies.Trump’s obsession with hydroxychloroquine centered on a study administered by a gaggle of scientists in March, but the results are openly dismissed by experts and major medical bodies.

What is hydroxychloroquine?
Hydroxychloroquine is extremely almost like chloroquine, one among the oldest and best-known anti-malarial drugs.

But the drug – which may also treat auto-immune diseases like atrophic arthritis and lupus – has also attracted attention over the past few decades as a possible antiviral .

In US, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had approved hydroxychloroquine for treating coronavirus approved by the President Trump something the organization has denied. Mr Trump later said that it had been approved for “compassionate use” – which suggests a doctor can provides a drug that’s yet to be cleared by the govt to a patient during a life-threatening condition.

Doctors are ready to prescribe chloroquine in these circumstances as it is a registered drug.

In India, hydroxychloroquine might be bought over the counter and is fairly inexpensive, but its purchase and use has been severely restricted ever since it had been named as a possible treatment for Covid-19.
