AFCON 2019: Senegal players awarded $34,000 after tournament exploits in Egypt.Despite suffering a heartbreak at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations’ finals in Egypt, Senegal players who took part in the tournament are set to smile all the way to the bank.
This is after Senegal president, Macky Sall, announcing his government will award the players and members of the technical bench a sum of $34,000 each for their exploits in the continental showpiece.
This was Senegal’s second AFCON final in their history, after losing the 2002 finals 3-2 on penalties to Cameroon. Meanwhile, the west African football powerhouse will be seeking to make amend in the next edition of the tournament slated for 2021 in Cameroon (MINISTERIAL LIST VIEW).
They have been drawn against Congo, Guinea Bissau and Eswatini in Group I of the competition’s qualifiers. The Atlas Lions were dumped out of the championship at the first knockout stage on penalties by Benin earlier this month.
