El-Zakzaky’s daughter explains that her father’s doctors had warned that the poison should not be allowed to affect organs of his body. Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), better known as Shi’ite group, could die soon as a result of alleged lead poison, his daughter, Suhaila, has said.

Suhaila raised the fears in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) while stressing that her father deserves proper treatment. “I am really worried, especially because of the lead and cadmium poisoning.

The cleric’s daughter said El-Zakzaky complained to her about the heavy presence of security operatives at the Medanta Hospital, New Delhi, India where he is being treated.

A key leader of the sect, Yahaya Muhammad Soje, was quoted as saying the couple would leave the Madenta hospital in India back for Nigeria. Soje said El-Zakzaky and his wife have expressed dissatisfaction over the treatment provided by the doctors and alleged threats by security operatives.
