Dictatorship has dividends – Oshiomhole. Adams Oshiomhole, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that dictatorship has its dividends – Oshiomhole said that freedom of speech is what differentiates democracy from a military regime.

The APC boss also said that saying dividends of democracy is mistake because even dictatorship has its benefits. Adams Oshiomhole, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that dividends of democracy is a mistake as dictatorship also comes with dividends.

Oshiomhole was reacting criticisms from APC members on both the ministerial and senate committee chairmen lists, The Sun reports. The APC boss said that people have the rights to express their opinions even when they are not true, adding that that is why the leadership of the ruling party asked for a multi-party democracy.

He said: “It isn’t for nothing that we have a tendency to asked for multi-party democracy, I have said to people when they talk about dividend of democracy, I have said it is
a mistake, even totalitarianism has dividends.
Oshiomhole added that freedom of speech is what completely differentiates democracy from dictatorship or a military government. He said: “What differentiates democracy from totalitarianism is that free have the correct to create observations and to complain albeit there’s no validity in those complaints, feeling that they have spoken truth to power.
The APC boss pointed out that one of the problems of the media is that it pays more attention on people who are aggrieved, not on those who are at peace with themselves.
Oshiomhole said that part of what the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) discussed with President Buhari on Wednesday was measures by which a recreation of the middle class in the country can be implemented.
