Russia’s Mikhailova Polina won the women’s final following 4-3 over compatriot Noskova Yana. Aruna Quadri defeated Austria’s Gardos Robert to successfully defend the 2019 edition of the Nigeria Open Table Tennis Championship in Lagos.

Quadri became only the second player to defend the title after Omar Assar of Egypt on Sunday, August 11. It also marks Quadri’s second successive tournament which started back in 2013. Nigeria’s greatest table tennis superstar defeated Rober in the final after a thrilling six contested sets, 15-13, 11-3, 8-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-1 (4-2). VIEW TWEET

Quadri took the first set before going down in ghe second and third, but he rallied back in the fourth, fifth and sixth to emerge victorious. The Super Eagles star scored a goal and created an assist for the Yellow Submarines after coming on as a second half substitute when the score was leveled at 1-1.
